MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee police are investigating a fatal shooting that took place on July 24 near 76th and Mill Road at 8:46 p.m.
According to officials, a 9-year-old boy died on the scene from a gunshot wound.
The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office identified the child as Harwinder Singh Tuesday evening and said the boy was three days shy of his 10th birthday.
That child is the 12th person under the age of 18 to die because of gun violence this year.
A woman who claims to be the aunt of the 9-year-old said the boy was with his brother and the children were being babysat by their older cousin.
A 42-year-old Milwaukee man, along with a 14-year-old Milwaukee boy, were taken into custody.
An investigation is ongoing. Charges are pending review by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.
