Milwaukee County correctional officer charged with misconduct in office

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee correctional officer is accused of misconduct in office.

According to a criminal complaint, the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office was alerted to a use of force that occurred at the Milwaukee County Jail on March 12. Officials say the incident was captured on video by a bodycam worn by another corrections officer.

The video, according to the complaint, shows an interaction between 24-year-old corrections officer, Weston Rolbiecki, and an incarcerated individual.

Officials say the video shows Rolbiecki interacting from outside the cell when the incarcerated individual throws a pair of socks at Rolbiecki, striking him in the face.

The video shows, according to the complaint, Rolbiecki enter the cell and shove the inmate against a wall. The video has no audio, but the complaint states it appears Rolbiecki ordered the inmate to sit on his bed. Investigators say they believe the inmate was not resisting or threatening Rolbiecki.

Rolbiecki is seen striking the inmates throat, according to the complaint, causing the inmate to roll back and hit his head on the wall.

The context for the interaction was a clothing change over, and at the time the socks were thrown the clothing changeover was complete.

Rolbiecki is due in court for a preliminary hearing on April 4.

If convicted, Rolbiecki could be fined up to $10,000, spend three years and six months in jail, or both.
