Milwaukee County officials discuss safer streets at 'Safe Streets Roadshow' event

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- You have the chance to tell officials about your vision of safer streets in Milwaukee County.

The county's Department of Transportation has launched the "Complete Communities Transportation Planning Project." It is taking the project to all corners of the county with its "Safe Streets Roadshow."

The goal is addressing reckless driving.

At a South Milwaukee Community Night Out event on Thursday, Aug. 3, officials said they are hearing important feedback.

Jeff Sponcia, Milwaukee County DOT transportation program planning manager, said, "People want better and more enforcement. They're also coming up with ideas about better infrastructure, like speed bumps, like narrowing of our wide roadways."

Attendees received an overview of the Complete Communities Project timeline and goals, and several more events are planned.
