MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Families in Milwaukee now have access to free diapers and other personal hygiene items, thanks to a diaper drive at Turner Hall Monday.
The Milwaukee Diaper Mission has teamed up with several local partners to provide the city's first free-standing diaper bank.
It comes just in time for National Diaper Need Awareness Week, which kicked off Sept. 21.
Organizers say no family should have to choose between buying diapers or food.
"With one in three families experiencing diaper need, and the pandemic making things even more difficult, we need to get to work immediately," said Meagan Johnson, co-founder of the Milwaukee Diaper Mission.
Once all of the supplies are collected, they're expected to be distributed sometime in November.
Organizers say reusable diapers will also be available.
