Milwaukee Health Department hosts free drive-thru vaccination clinic after resident tests positive for mpox

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Health Department offered a free drive-thru mpox vaccination clinic on Saturday, Feb. 10.

In a statement, they say a Milwaukee resident has tested positive for mpox on Friday, Feb. 2. This is the first identified case of mpox since June of 2023

When you have mpox, you may have flu-like symptoms and a painful rash or sore.

You can contact it through close, personal contact with symptomatic people and anyone can spread it. Recovery typically occurs within two to four weeks, according to health officials.

If you have been exposed to the disease, the Milwaukee Health Department says to call your local healthcare provider or call your local health department.
