MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Mayor Cavalier Johnson and other city leaders gathered Thursday, June 18 outside the Zeidler Municipal Building to mark the start of Juneteenth celebrations with a flag-raising ceremony.
"It doesn't matter what color you are it doesn't matter what language you speak; it doesn't matter who you love, no matter where your station is in life, then all of us do better," Johnson said.
The annual Juneteenth Day Parade steps off Friday, June 19 at 9 a.m. near 9th and Atkinson.
