Milwaukee leaf collection begins Oct. 1
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee is ready to begin its annual leaf collection program, allowing residents to rake leaves into the street for pickup.
Residents may rake leaves into the curb lanes from Tuesday, Oct. 1 through Friday, Nov. 15, according to a press release from the Department of Public Works issued Monday, Sept. 30.
No special requests are necessary, as collection operations will cycle through the city systematically beginning mid-October. Leaves must be raked out by the Nov. 15 deadline for final collection.
Residents are advised to rake leaves loose into the curb lane, leaving a one-foot gap from the curb. Yard debris such as flowers, garden trimmings and weeds may be included on top of leaf piles.
Grass clippings, pumpkins, litter, bagged material and brush should not be included.
After Nov. 15, leaves must be mulched on the property or taken to a drop-off center.
