Milwaukee Recreation reopens Columbia Playfield

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- MPS and city leaders celebrated the re-opening of a new kids play area in Milwaukee.

Milwaukee Recreation held a ribbon-cutting on Saturday at Columbia Playfield.

There's new basketball courts, play structures, a splash pad, and a walking path.

Last fall, work began to remodel and rebuild its recreation playfields by breaking ground at the first three sites to be transformed: Columbia, Custer, and Southgate.

Columbia is the first playfield to reopen.

“Everyone deserves a safe place to recreate and we now have an equitable way to prioritize the renovation projects and truly level the playing field in our city,” says Lynn A. Greb, Milwaukee Recreation Senior Director. “Our grand reopening of Columbia Playfield will showcase the tremendous investment we’re making in our community.”
