Milwaukee recycling pickup to resume Aug. 28 following flood disruption

CBS 58

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Department of Public Works announced Wednesday, Aug. 27 that recycling collection will resume on Thursday, Aug. 28, following delays caused by historic flooding.

Collections will restart on the regular schedule rather than picking up missed routes. Residents are instructed to place carts out on their normal pickup day.

Extra recyclables may be set out in cardboard boxes, but bags will not be accepted. Flattened cardboard without Styrofoam or packing material may be placed next to or on top of carts.

City officials said Drop-Off Centers are still free for residents through Sunday, Aug. 31.

Garbage and recycling cart deliveries are still delayed, boulevard maintenance is resuming gradually and brush collection is still suspended as crews work on recovery efforts.
