CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Ahead of Thursday night's Milwaukee Public Schools Board meeting, the union representing Milwaukee's teachers protested the job cuts put forward by the district's superintendent.
The union has not yet reached a deal with the district and doesn't support the cutting of about 260 jobs.
The district has a $46 million budget gap to close and superintendent Brenda Cassellius says the cuts will save the district about $30 million.
MPS is also asking the union to agree to delays in wage increases, pushing them back to January instead of July.
