Milwaukee's Burnham Park unveils new food truck zone

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee park officially has more to offer than playgrounds and picnic spots. You can get your lunch there, too.

The Burnham Park Food Truck Zone was unveiled Wednesday, Aug. 9.

Earlier this year, the Milwaukee Common Council passed an ordinance regulating the parking and operations of food trucks in the city.

It includes the creation of specific zones, made to limit the number of food truck businesses in one area.

Burnham Park, for example, has seen a high density of food trucks.

Now, only six can operate there.

"My hope is that this historic food truck zone will be a solution for all of us and will be successful for many years to come," said Milwaukee's 8th District Alderwoman JoCasta Zamarripa.

City leaders on Wednesday, encouraged food truck owners and operators to come to them with questions about the new regulations.

That way, businesses can continue to grow and serve hungry customers.
