Puerto Rican Festival celebrates culture, community along Milwaukee lakefront

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — The 13th annual Puerto Rican Festival is underway along Milwaukee's lakefront, bringing music, dancing, food and community together for a day of celebration.

Admission is $20 for adults and $10 for children.

Organizers and attendees say the festival is about more than entertainment. It also provides representation for Milwaukee's Puerto Rican community and an opportunity to celebrate its culture.

"I think it's very important," attendee Shadha Rashed said. "Milwaukee has a high population of Puerto Ricans and I think Milwaukee does a really good job with all of the different festivals, but this festival specifically is something that was needed with the high population and it's doing a great job year after year."

The festival continues until 9 p.m. Saturday.
