MKE Influencers: Sophia Lee, bringing décor to your door

 

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Sophia Lee is an interior design mogul in the making. The 26-year-old is the founder and a designer at BSL Studio.

At the age of 19, Lee started a new journey just before her sophomore year of college, blogging about her decor journey.

"I was falling asleep at night, literally thinking about what bedding I was going to put on my dorm room bed."

Lee said from day one she treated blogging like a full-time job.

"I knew that this was the easiest way -- me getting on social media, me having a blog was the best way that I could get my face in front of as many people as possible," said Lee. "And to really become known in that industry. So, I ran full force with it."

While trying to become known in the industry, she also ended up gaining followers on her journey. She says she never wanted to be an influencer but recognizes the power of social media.

"I would have never been able to grow my business to where it is without social media," said Lee.

Lee's TikTok has over 600,000 followers. Her "By Sophia Lee" YouTube page has nearly 125,000 subscribers, with combined video views in the millions. She has more than 150,000 followers on Instagram and more than 100,000 followers on Pinterest.

While growing her business, giving DIY tips and cost saving advice, she recently worked on a home renovation project turning it into a million-dollar listing.

"My biggest tip, really, for anyone that’s young, is don’t just expect things to happen to you. You need to make them happen. I didn't just sit around and go on with my daily life hoping that all of these business would start. I worked really, really hard to make them happen. I reached out to people, I wasn’t scared of embarrassing myself. I didn’t care if I failed."

Lee is on the road to success, helping others on their décor journey and influencing along the way.
