More cheese, please, on this National Cheese Lover's Day

CBS

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Open your refrigerator door and there's a good chance you have a slab of cheese on one of the shelves. Maybe a few.

Jan. 20 is the day to indulge on one of Wisconsin's favorite foods, as it marks National Cheese Lover's Day.

It should be no surprise the Dairy State is the biggest producer of cheese in our country. Industry analysts say there are some 1200 cheesemakers in the state along with some 600 varieties made here. It's also estimated each American consumes 33 pounds of cheese each and every year.

To celebrate the big day, we stopped at two places, including the new Milwaukee Cheese Bar by Hill Valley Dairy in Walker's Point and the Wisconsin Cheese Mart in Milwaukee.
