Mount Pleasant: 4 arrested after stun gun robbery, pursuit

MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. (CBS 58) --- Mount Pleasant police arrested four people after they robbed a Best Buy with a stun gun and led police on a pursuit Saturday, Dec. 19.

Police say it started around 10:15 a.m. when squads were dispatched to Best Buy for a reported robbery. Police say two women entered the store, stole merchandise, and then threatened others with a stun gun. No one was injured.

According to police, the suspects ran to a waiting car in the parking lot and fled. The suspect vehicle collided with another motorist that was traveling through the parking lot, and then continued on the highway where it was located by a patrol squad from Sturtevant Police Department. 

Sturtevant police initiated a pursuit which continued to County Line Road and onto Sylvania Avenue, before turning into a driveway. Police say the suspect drove the car into the back yard before stopping in the 3500 block of Sylvania.

Four suspects fled on foot from the car, but were all located and arrested shortly after.

Police identified the suspects as Shakyra Edwards, 18, Ariel Ward, 17, Deshaun Blue, 18, and Jamarious Martin, 18. All four suspects are from Milwaukee. Police say they the four are also suspects in several other cases where they used similar methods to commit their crimes.

They have since been transported to Racine County Jail for the following:

  • Robbery (by use of a Dangerous Weapon)
  • Possession of an Electronic Weapon
  • Knowingly Flee an Office
  • Recklessly Endangering Safety
  • Hit and Run (Occupied Vehicle)
  • Obstructing an Officer

The charges were referred to the Racine County District Attorney's office for review, according to a news release.

The incident remains under investigation.

Multiple agencies assisted in the incident, including Sturtevant Police Department, Racine County Sheriff Department, including the K-9 unit, Wisconsin State Patrol, the Department of Natural Resources, and the Yorkville Fire Department.
