Food truck owners feel ripple effects of surging gas prices
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – A group of volunteers walked around Milwaukee’s Sherman Park neighborhood on Tuesday, June 2 cleaning up following several nights of protests.
The clean-up was organized by the MA’RUF Center which works to improve the lives of Milwaukee’s disenfranchised and marginalized communities.

Many people swept up glass and picked up garbage. Organizers said it is one thing they can do to make a difference.
“MLK, for example, is known to have said that a riot is the language of the unheard,” MA’RUF Center director Nazir Al-Mujaahid said. “So even if things do get messy, it’s our responsibility to take ownership of it, clean the different things up and move forward.”
Al-Mujaahid said the group will continue to hold clean-ups for as long as they’re needed.
