MPS chief financial advisor resigns ahead of board meeting

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Public Schools will hold a long waited special board meeting to discuss the corrective action plan, next year's budget, and an interim superintendent on Thursday, June 13.

Board members will hear from community members, many of whom are furious over the ongoing developments in the district's financial crisis.

There are new developments seemingly every day. Today, CBS 58 confirmed that Chief Financial Officer Martha Kreitzman resigned, just hours before the meeting.
Community members have lined up outside, ready to fill the auditorium.

Many of them are part of the grassroots recall effort that's targeting half of the sitting board, which includes Board President Marva Herndon, Vice President Jilly Gokalgandhi, Director Erika Siemsen, and Director Missy Zombor.

Many of the recall members plan to speak at the board meeting.

The meeting is set to begin at 5:30 p.m.
