MUSKEGO, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A man from Muskego was honored Monday for stepping up and being a hero during a time of need.
Jesse Hieb was given the Forward 28 award for helping his neighbors during the historic flooding in August.
He organized cleanup for dozens of homes that were impacted by the flooding and created a relief fund to help lessen the financial burden.
Hieb says that helping others is something that comes naturally to him.
"It's what I'm called to do," Hieb said. "I've got a God that tells me to love people, love all people. That was the whole purpose of it, was to help the community know they weren't forgotten, they are cared about, their neighbors love them, we love them."
The Forward 28 award was created by Senator Julian Bradley and is given to someone who helps others during times of need.
