MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The crew of NASA's Artemis II mission launched Wednesday, April 1 from Kennedy Space Center in Florida, starting the first crewed flyby of the Moon in more than half a century.
The 10-day mission will take four astronauts around the Moon aboard the Orion spacecraft before returning to Earth.
Dr. Suzanne Bell, who leads the Behavioral Health and Performance Laboratory at NASA's Johnson Space Center, joined us on Thursday, April 2, to discuss the mission.
She talked about the health hazards astronauts face in deep space compared to the International Space Station, what NASA hopes to learn from the journey and how the crew will live and work together in the smaller Orion capsule.
