Milwaukee Bucks select Guard AJ Johnson with 23rd overall pick

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) --The Milwaukee Bucks selected 19-year-old guard AJ Johnson with the 23rd overall pick in the first round of Wednesday’s NBA Draft.

Johnson spent the 2023-24 season with the Illawara Hawks of the National Basketball League in Wollongong, Australia, averaging 2.8 points and 1.3 rebounds per game.

The 6-foot-4, 170-pound shooting guard is considered a high-upside talent lacking polish but with elite athleticism.

This marked just the second time the Bucks held onto their first-round pick in the last five years - MarJon Beauchamp was a first-round selection in 2022.

The draft, which takes place across two days in Brooklyn, New York, will continue Thursday at 3 p.m. The Bucks select 33rd overall.
