New MCTS bus design unveiled to promote kidney health awareness

NOW: New MCTS bus design unveiled to promote kidney health awareness

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- According to the National Kidney Foundation, Black Americans are three times as likely to develop kidney failure in comparison to white Americans.

National Black K.A.R.E. is an initiative that spreads awareness about kidney disease, and that campaign is heading to Milwaukee.

Through participation in the initiative, the Milwaukee Chapter of The Links, Incorporated was granted national grant funding which will be used to educate residents on disease prevention and treatment -- and part of that education effort will be on wheels.

Mayor Cavalier Johnson, alongside others, unveiled a Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) bus designed to promote kidney health across the city.

"Seeing this message travel all across our city in partnership with MCTS means that every neighborhood, all neighborhoods in Milwaukee will have the opportunity to be reminded that their health is a priority and it matters," Mayor Johnson said.
