MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Another sushi restaurant has opened in Milwaukee. However, this new spot changes the way people in need of a quick bite to eat will be able to access fast food.

Irish Huang is the owner of Sooshibay on Water Street. She and her family have been in the restaurant industry in Wisconsin for 20 years. She says the original location opened in Kenosha in 2023 and brought a fun experience for customers through a rotating conveyor belt.

“We really want to bring something special,” Huang said. “The hope is they come here not just for a restaurant, I hope they can have the memory.”

Customers in Milwaukee will be able to grab food from the belt with varying colors of plates determining pricing for sushi rolls. They can also have food delivered to them through an express train or robots.

Sophia and Stephanie Oxley, a mother and daughter originally from the Cedarburg area, came into the restaurant for lunch on Feb 12.

“The aesthetic is great, very pop culture, very futuristic, I love the big screens that you see here,” Stephanie Oxley said. “I can’t wait to bring some of my family around and try some of the noodle bowls as well.”

“When something fresh and different like this comes through, it’s really exciting,” Sophia Oxley said.
