Oak Creek FD responds to 2 water rescues on Lake Michigan

OAK CREEK, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Oak Creek Fire Department responded to two separate water incidents on Lake Michigan on Sunday, Aug. 18 according to a department release.

The first incident occurred at 5:49 p.m. at Bender Park, where multiple individuals were reported to be in distress. Three victims were located on the beach, two of whom were transported to the hospital for treatment. The third victim reportedly refused treatment.

Around one hour later, a rowboat capsized near the WE Energies fishing pier. One of the two individuals on board was assisted to the pier and refused further treatment. The second victim, who officials say sustained injuries, was rescued from the rocky shoreline with assistance from Milwaukee and Cudahy fire departments. The victim was transported to the hospital for evaluation.
