OAK CREEK, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Oak Creek police shut down a neighborhood for several hours Friday, April 9, as they responded to multiple break-ins.

Police were first called around 4:30 p.m.

They have confirmed that at least two homes were broken into and the suspect was able to run away through a wooded area behind homes.

Officers were still investigating as of 9:30 p.m. Friday night and have released very little officially.

When CBS 58 arrived on scene, our cameras caught police clearing a home in the area. We saw a police K9 searching the backyard first.

The search lasted close to half an hour.

Multiple neighbors tell CBS 58 some type of confrontation occurred between the suspect and a neighbor.

Oak Creek police say they're still trying to piece together all that has happened.

This is a developing story. Stick with CBS 58 for updates on air and online.
