The National Weather Service has finished surveying damage from the severe storms that rolled across southeast Wisconsin Tuesday afternoon and evening. They have confirmed one tornado did occur. It was in southern Washington County near the Hubertus area. The tornado had max wind speeds of 80 mph making it an EF-0 tornado. The tornado was very short-lived - only on the ground for two minutes and traveled a half mile.

In addition to the tornado, we did see plenty of other wind damage from the storms on Tuesday. Especially in central Washinton County and also around the county line between NE Waukesha County and the NW side of Milwaukee. The damage in those areas was from straight line winds up to 80 mph which caused just as much damage as an EF-0 tornado.

The confirmed tornado pushes the state total for the year to 47 tornadoes making 17 EF-0 tornadoes for the year. The highest number of tornadoes statewide have been EF-1 tornadoes with 21.

The 47 tornadoes for the year now has sole possession of second place for the entire year passing 2010 with 46 tornadoes. The record tornadoes in a year still sits at 62 tornadoes set back in 2005.
