Pleasant Prairie apartment complex evacuated due to carbon monoxide investigation

PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Tenants from an apartment complex in Pleasant Prairie had to evacuate just before 4:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 8, due to a carbon monoxide investigation. 

Officials noted high levels of carbon monoxide and a possible reaction of cleaning chemicals in the basement of the Hidden Oaks apartment complex. 

The Pleasant Prairie Police Department says a power washer hit a gas line.

Authorities conducted an evacuation while crews initiated mitigation strategies to eliminate the hazard. 

Pleasant Prairie Fire and Rescue says all hazards were cleared by 7:10 p.m. and residents were allowed to return to their apartments.
