Girl Scouts of Southeast Wisconsin hold Dessert First Gala at Discovery World

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Girl Scouts of Southeast Wisconsin held its "She Will" Dessert First Gala at Discovery World on Thursday, Sept. 24, celebrating the accomplishments of Girl Scouts from across the area.

Bakers, many of them former Girl Scouts themselves, used Girl Scout cookies to create desserts including brownies and cream puffs. The organization describes the gala as its largest fundraising event of the year.

"It's really fun watching them come back and be really excited about taking one of our classic cookies and turning them into a unique dessert," said Ana Simpson, CEO of Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast. "It's amazing to see how the older Girl Scouts are really tapping into some unique experiences, really preparing them for their future."

Girl Scout cookie season runs from January through April.
