Pop up storms again this afternoon and evening, with stronger storms possible Friday
If you were a fan of Tuesday’s weather, today will be a carbon copy with comfortable levels of humidity, highs in the 70s, and isolated showers and storms popping up in the afternoon and evening.
We’ll have a break from the rain on Thursday, but two rounds of storms are possible on Friday: one in the morning and another one in the afternoon into the evening.
The first round in the morning will be associated with a warm front, which will allow for humid air to surge back into the area.
That humid air could help fuel a second round of storms late afternoon into the evening as a cold front moves through. There’s still some uncertainty in the timing of these two rounds of storms, but if the morning round moves out fast enough for sunshine to break out midday Friday, the second round of storms could be strong to severe.
Currently, all of southeast Wisconsin is under a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5) for severe storms on Friday. Damaging winds, hail, and heavy downpours will be the primary threats. Keep up on the forecast over the next few days as we get a clearer picture of Friday’s severe weather potential.
