Opening weekend is here for Slinger Speedway
Dennis Pearson's Beastie statues are well known in the city of Milwaukee. The whimsical animal sculptures are once again gracing locations throughout the area, especially at the Milwaukee County Zoo. It’s all part of a fundraising effort for the Milwaukee Zoological Society.
For this latest exposition, artists from around the area were commissioned to paint the Beastie statues. Each one depicts scenes and wildlife found in Africa. At the end of the summer the Beasties will be auctioned off with proceeds going to the zoo's Adventure Africa project.
On CBS 58 Sunday Morning, Pearson accompanied Mike Curkov for a stroll through the zoo to find out the secrets behind the popularity of the Beasties.
