PORT WASHINGTON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Highlighting local artists and kicking off summer is the focus of one hometown festival.
Port Washington will close Main Street on Saturday to celebrate its rising art scene and showcase the fun the Ozaukee County city has to offer.
There will be lots for your little ones, like face painting and hands-on art projects. One community art project will include squirting paint out of a water gun on a canvas that will be raffled off.
Live performances from African, Irish and Hmong dance groups will occur throughout the day. You can also grab some brats and beer while practicing your dance moves during the set of Septeto Charambo, a local salsa group performing from 2:45 to 4:30 p.m.
Though the city is known for its port and lighthouse, this is a chance to highlight its artistic side.
"We have a lot of energy around the arts right now, so it's a good opportunity for us to use that as a celebration point and bring fellow artists from all over the region into our beautiful downtown," Port Main Street Executive Director Kristina Tadeo said.
The festival is from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and is free to attend, with free parking available. For more information on the Port Festival of the Arts, visit their website.
