MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee-based ensemble Present Music will feature two world-premiere compositions and an arrangement of the classic rock song "Born to be Wild" during its upcoming concerts at Jan Serr Studio.
The concerts are scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26 and Thursday, March 27.
The program, titled "intO tHe WiLd," will include original compositions from Carla Kihlstedt and Andy Akiho, alongside Kamran Ince’s composition celebrating illustrator Edward Gorey's 100th birthday. Also, David Lang’s arrangement of Steppenwolf’s "Born to be Wild" will also be performed.
Kihlstedt, a composer and multi-instrumentalist, is known for her vocal and violin performances. Akiho, a composer and steel pannist, has previously won the Rome Prize. Ince, also a Rome Prize recipient, has had compositions performed by major orchestras internationally. Lang, co-founder of Bang on a Can, earned a Pulitzer Prize in 2008.
