RACINE COUNTY, Wis (CBS 58) -- The family has identified the man who was shot and killed Thursday night in Racine County.

The victim's family has identified him as Chad Bickler.

Bickler's brother, Clayton Bickler, created a GoFundMe for funeral costs and related expenses. Clayton Bickler wrote that the family dog, Tucker, was also killed in the home invasion.

"Chad was the best brother, son, and friend anyone could ask for and will be missed by everyone who knew him. His laugh lit up the room and Chad loved making people smile," Bickler wrote in the GoFundMe.

The family's neighbor, Duane Sleaper, said the victim was a good man who got along well with Sleaper's grandchildren.

"Let me say I really feel bad for the family. They were a really close family. Good people," Sleaper said. "They're going to be devastated."

The Racine County Sheriff's Office said Troy Hoffmann, the man accused of breaking into Bickler's home and shooting him multiple times, has been taken into custody.

Deputies said Hoffmann turned himself in at the Village of Hustisford Police Department Friday and was taken to the Dodge County Jail.
