Racine County Sheriff's Office arrests suspect involved in child abuse of months-old infant

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Racine County Sheriff's Office (RCSO) announced Wednesday, Dec. 1, that authorities responded to Children’s Wisconsin on Tuesday, Nov. 30, for a report of potential child abuse.

Reports show that the infant’s mother reported that her infant, a less than 2-month-old child, had "fresh injuries" to his forehead.

Authorities say upon further examination, the medical staff located the following injuries on the infant:

  • Bruising
  • An arm fracture
  • A skull fracture
  • Several rib fractures.

Officials report that the medical staff advised the injures were in varying stages of healing and some of the injuries appeared fresh.

Reports show that the infant was subsequently admitted to Children’s Hospital, and is expected to make a full recovery.

The Racine County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Bureau later interviewed both parents of the infant involved in the case.

Authorities say that the father, a 22-year-old white male from Racine County, admitted to causing some of the injuries.

RCSO says that the suspect was later arrested, taken to the Racine County Jail, and is being held on a $75,000 cash bail.

Officials indicate that the following charges were recommended to the Racine County District Attorney’s Office:

  • Physical Abuse of Child: Recklessly Cause Great Bodily Harm (3 counts)

The Racine County Sheriff's Office says the suspect is not being identified to protect the privacy of the victim.
