Racine & Me: Volunteer Positions at WHS Racine Campus
RACINE, WI (CBS 58) -- The Wisconsin Humane Society relies on volunteers for support across our entire organization. Volunteers serve in several different capacities like animal care, client services, and veterinary support. On any given day you’ll find volunteers walking dogs, cleaning kennels, prepping supplies, facilitating adoptions, doing laundry, assisting in our store, and supporting youth programs. Right now, our greatest need at the Racine Campus is for vaccine clinic greeters. Our Vaccine Clinic Onsite Greeter Volunteers provide support during our public Vaccine Clinics. This is a client focused position that supports our community and their beloved pets by ensuring they get the low-cost vaccination services they need. We’re also in great need of volunteers for our vet services. Vet Services volunteers assist the staff with preparing treatments (medicine) and administering medicine for animals in the shelter. A volunteer favorite, and a position that 13–15-year-olds can do with an adult, is dog walking! Dog Walkers provide support by ensuring our dogs get a potty break, exercise, and learn lifelong behavior skills.
We do require quite a bit of training for our volunteers, so we ask that you be willing to make at least a 6-month commitment. Going into the summer season, we have a high need for volunteers, and we’d love to have you join us. There really is something for everyone and it’s super easy to jump on board – just a brief orientation video and application. After that, we’ll provide all the training you need to get started.
