Monday's rain did not disappoint. It started to role in during the morning hours and it quickly became heavy with flood advisories issued in many hometowns from the morning hours through the late afternoon. By Monday evening most of the heavy rain was done with just a few light showers lingering through the overnight hours into Tuesday morning. Besides the lingering shower Tuesday morning our next chance for rain will be Thursday morning with a few light showers.
The rainfall Monday in Milwaukee reached record levels with over 2" falling at the airport. The full 24 hour rain total of 2.08" shatters the old record of 0.84" set back in 1981.
Even though Milwaukee saw a good soaking rain, it still didn't erase the rain deficit for the entire year which is still at 0.62" below-average. It will take a few more big rain events like Mondays to see the rain deficit since April 1st go away but the month of August is now back above-average.
Rain totals across the rest of southeast Wisconsin saw most of our hometowns pick up between 2-4" of rain with a few locations even higher. Find your community or one close to it on the lists below.
