NOW: Record shattering temps Monday lead us to rumbles of thunder Tuesday night
NEXT:

We shattered record highs on Monday. We were anticipating the possibility of breaking records with a forecast high right around 60. We exceeded even that and ended up hitting 63 degrees in Milwaukee. The rest of southeast Wisconsin was also warm mostly in the 60s with a few upper 50s in our northern and western counties.

The 63 high in Milwaukee broke the old record of 56 set back in 1921 over 100 years ago in 1921. Tuesday is going to be cooler, but still mild for this time of year, with highs in the 40s. Then we warm back up to 60 on Wednesday. This time it likely won't be record breaking with a current record high of 67 set in 2017.

Monday was our first day in the 60s so far this year which was a few weeks earlier than our average first 60 in Milwaukee. On average that first 60 degree day of the year doesn't happen until March 9. Now we look ahead to the first 70 degree day which on average happens at the beginning of April.

The last time we saw highs in the 60s was way back in the middle of November when the high reached 69 degrees on November 15th. We went 93 days between high temperatures reaching the 60s.

After Monday's sunshine with the record warmth, the clouds have increased Tuesday morning. Those clouds stay with us most of the day keeping temps in check in the 40s. Most of Tuesday stays pretty dry until Tuesday evening when some rain showers are possible. You might hear a few rumbles of thunder Tuesday night into Wednesday morning and some pockets of moderate rain are possible.

Rain totals will range from a tenth to three tenths from Tuesday evening through early Wednesday. Most of the rain should be done around daybreak Wednesday.

Another round of rain showers will be possible starting Thursday afternoon. That round could mix and switch with some snow by Friday. Download the CBS 58 Weather app to track the chances for consistent shower chances.
