MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The extensive search for Milwaukee Public School's next superintendent continues.
The Milwaukee Board of Directors announced Wednesday, Dec. 19 that it's re-opening the application window for the position.
The decision was made during a special board meeting on Tuesday.
Today, CBS 58 spoke with MPS Board Vice President Jilly Gokalgandhi about why they made the decision. She said the board wants to take their time to make sure they find the right person to lead the district.
"The first thing we are really looking for is someone who is committed to public education making sure our schools stay open and that they are really public," said Gokalgandhi.
The board says they still hope to conclude their search by early spring.
