MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The second gentleman spent the afternoon in Milwaukee. Doug Emhoff's campaigning for Vice President Kamala Harris in several states, trying to reach Black and Latino voters by talking about businesses as someone who used to own his own law firm.

The day focused on small and minority-owned businesses, and the second gentleman started it all at Diamond Discs International.

This is video you'll only see on CBS 58. Our exclusive walk-through of Diamond Discs International at 93rd and Heather, as Doug Emhoff got a look around the tool maker.

"And we value what you all bring to the table," said Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff.

Union members were among the crowd as the second gentleman said Vice President Kamala Harris has three pillars to her economic plan: lowering costs, like the price gouging of food, giving entrepreneurs a $50,000 tax credit, and bringing ship manufacturers back to the U.S.

"She's gonna continue to build on that, so we, the United States, can own the next generation of technology, and you know, a lot of that work is gonna come right here to Wisconsin," said Emhoff.

Emhoff called his wife a warrior and says she's taking her fight directly to former President Trump.

"It's no surprise he's ducking a second debate, because she kicked his [expletive] at that first debate," said Emhoff.

He also joked about home life, saying right now, it might be best to not watch the skits on Saturday Night Live.

"We don't have time for any distractions. We can't get distracted, although it was pretty fun -- I watched it," said Emhoff.

From tools to baked goods, Emhoff and his motorcade made the 20-minute drive to grab pastries at Sherman Phoenix, another minority-owned business.

"Excited, glad that they continue to understand the importance and the value of being in Wisconsin," said Carl Brown, of the Fresh Coast Jazz Festival.

"It's certainly time that America has a first gentleman. I believe in her as a woman, a leader, a president of the United States of America that we can look forward to having for the next four years," said Wauwatosa Alderman Sean Lowe.

And the day ended with the second gentleman encouraging everyone to register to vote and then get out there and do it.
