Sheridan Park bluff stabilization project moves forward with approval of nearly $1.3M in funding
CBS 58 CUDAHY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee County is moving forward with plans to stabilize the bluffs at Sheridan Park.
County Executive David Crowley signed legislation Tuesday, June 30, approving Milwaukee County Parks to advance nearly $1.3 million in funding for the design and permitting phase of the Sheridan Park bluff stabilization project in Cudahy.
The bluffs have experienced decades of erosion and recession, leading to shoreline instability and risks to public infrastructure, park amenities, and nearby neighborhoods, according to officials.
Milwaukee County Parks says the funds will be added to the $200,000 approved by the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors in May.
“Preserving Sheridan Park in a fiscally responsible way is a priority for Milwaukee County,” said County Executive Crowley. “This beloved park is important to our residents who call this community home. The funding will allow us to explore solutions for this environmental challenge, improve eligibility for state and federal support, and help restore the park for generations to come.”
Milwaukee County Parks says once the design and permitting phase is complete, the county will be able to pursue funding opportunities for construction and implementation of the stabilization project.
