SHOREWOOD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A driver was hospitalized Thursday, March 27, after a high-speed pursuit in Shorewood ended in a crash.

According to Shorewood police, an officer saw a vehicle traveling around 75 mph near Oakland and Edgewood at approximately 2:45 a.m. The driver allegedly failed to yield during a traffic stop and continued northbound on Oakland.

The vehicle lost control and crashed into a tree near the corner of Oakland and Olive. Emergency crews extricated the driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, and transported them to a local hospital for treatment.

The department is investigating the pursuit and crash, while charges of reckless driving and fleeing an officer will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.
