Skylight Music Theatre showcasing local talent in 'School of Rock'

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- For an in-depth discussion of "School of Rock" being staged in Milwaukee, Artistic Director Michael Unger with Skylight Music Theater joined us on Monday, Dec. 4.
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Tony-winning musical "School of Rock" is set to hit the Milwaukee stage, featuring Milwaukee-area students included in the cast. Skylight Musical Theater will stage the show in the Cabot Theatre at the Broadway Theatre Center.
"School of Rock," a musical adaptation of the popular 2003 Jack Black-led movie, tells the story of Dewey Finn, a failed rockstar turned substitute teacher. Finn discovers the musical talents of his students at a prestigious prep school and forms a rock band with them, celebrating the transformative power of music and the unexpected joys of life's detours.
Key figures in this version of "School of Rock" include Andrew Lloyd Webber, who composed new music for the show, and Julian Fellowes, known for his book adaptation, as well as Glenn Slater who contributed lyrics the musical numbers. The Milwaukee production is directed by Michael Unger, Skylight Music Theatre’s Artistic Director.
Skylight, established in 1959, is known for its diverse range of musical theatre productions. Its home, the Cabot Theatre, renowned for its intimate setting and elegant design inspired by 18th-century French opera houses, offers a unique viewing experience.
