SlamFest returns to Slinger Speedway with chaos and crashes

CBS 58

SLINGER, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Slinger Speedway is crashing into the weekend at full speed. This Saturday, Aug. 16, buses, trucks and cars will race forward, backwards and relay on the track.

SlamFest is a break from the usual competition around the oval, with drivers also racing on the eight track.

“It’s a completely different atmosphere than the seriousness of a normal Sunday night when everybody is trying to win, trying to be competitive. This is a little more laid back and everyone just wants to have a good time,” said Travis Dassow.

While money is on the line, many of the drivers just come for the thrill of it.

“They come to smash things, put on a show for the fans,” he said.

In between the 12 events, including a last-man-standing trailer race, a ski race and bus races, there will be burnout competitions, flames and entertainment from Rockstar Russ.

Gates open at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. The first event starts at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are available in advance. $22 for adults and $12 for children.
