Snow emergencies declared in southeast Wisconsin -- here's a look at the list
SOUTHEAST WISCONSIN (CBS 58) -- Cities across southeast Wisconsin are declaring snow emergencies ahead of the incoming weekend storm, Jan 10 through 13.
There is the possibility of icing south of Milwaukee overnight Friday, Jan. 10. Light icing on elevated surfaces could create some slick spots. 2" to 4" of snow is expected overnight north of Milwaukee. After a break in the morning all snow will develop across the entire area for the afternoon, evening, and overnight.
Brookfield: Snow emergency declared from midnight Saturday, Jan. 11 through noon on Sunday, Jan. 12. No parking will be allowed on any Town streets to allow the plows to clear the roadways.
Fort Atkinson: Snow emergency declaration shall take effect 12 a.m. Saturday Jan. 11, and remain in effect until 12 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13.
Greenfield: Emergency starting Friday, Jan. 10 at 6:00 p.m. and expiring on Monday, Jan. 13 at 6 a.m.
Kohler: Snow emergency from noon on Saturday Jan. 11, 2020 to noon on Sun. January 12. During a snow emergency, there is no parking on Village streets while snow plows are in operation. Vehicles will be ticketed by the police department if parked on the street during a snow emergency. You may park your vehicle on the street again once a snow emergency has expired.
Milwaukee: Snow emergency beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11 through 6 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 12.
- Arterial Streets – No Parking
- Side Streets – Alternate-side parking; Saturday odd-side and Sunday even-side.
- Posted signs take precedence
- Designated MPS Lots in exception street areas will be open and available for overnight parking.
Pleasant Prairie: Snow emergency beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, and remains in effect until noon on Monday, Jan. 13. During a Snow Emergency, no parking is allowed on Village Streets. Racine: Snow emergency begins at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11 until 12 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 12. This means there shall be no parking permitted on either side of the city's arterial and collector streets, and all cars must be parked on the even side of all local streets from 12 midnight to 6 a.m. Sunday. Vehicles parked in violation will be ticketed and subject to towing.
Saukville: Snow emergency beginning at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11 until 12 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 12.
Sheboygan: Snow emergency declared effective 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11. During a snow emergency there is absolutely NO PARKING on the following streets:
- Snow Emergency Routes
- Boulevards
- Cul-de-sacs
- Dead end streets
YOU CANNOT PARK ON THESE STREETS UNTIL THE SNOW EMERGENCY IS OFFICIALLY CANCELLED. For non-snow emergency routes, please follow normal winter parking rules. That means by midnight Saturday night park on the even side of the street since Sunday is January 12, an even day. During a snow emergency you can disregard signs posted, “No Parking This Side of Street” to comply with the even side parking requirement.
If you are in violation of the snow emergency rules your vehicle will be ticketed and towed. You will need to pay the snow emergency ticket at the front desk of the Police Department before your vehicle will be released. Though normally closed, we will have the front desk staffed on Sunday from 7:00 am until 3:00 pm to accommodate this. HOWEVER, retrieving your vehicle from the tow company is dependent on their normal business hours, which may not be until Monday morning.
Somers: Snow emergency will be in effect from 12 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11 through 12 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13. Residents are reminded to park their vehicles accordingly, with no parking in designated area.
West Allis: Snow emergency beginning Saturday, Jan. 11 at 3 p.m. and ending Monday, Jan. 13 at 1 p.m. Parking restrictions are in effect. During a snow emergency, parking is prohibited on all major emergency thoroughfares for the duration of the emergency. In addition, parking is limited to one side of all other streets. Any vehicles in violation of the parking restrictions during a snow emergency will be ticketed and towed at the owner's expense.
West Milwaukee: Snow emergency beginning 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11 through 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13. During snow emergencies, parking is prohibited on all major emergency thoroughfares for the duration of the emergency. Alternate side overnight parking rules will be strictly enforced. Any vehicles in violation of the parking restrictions during a snow emergency will be ticketed and towed at the owner's expense.
