SHEBOYGAN FALLS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A lot of Green Bay Packers fans undoubtedly left Lambeau Field feeling very disappointed Sunday night.

One Sheboygan Falls couple, however, isn't letting the final score keep them down.

"It was just spur of the moment," Peter Gehrke said. "Nobody believed us, and we pulled it off."

Peter and Caytlin Gehrke were married right outside of Lambeau Field before the game on Sunday.

"I invest a lot of time, energy and emotion into the Green Bay Packers," Peter Gehrke said.

The couple first planned to get married in 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic canceled their big, traditional wedding plans.

They didn't expect plan B to become the wedding of their dreams.

"No, not at all," Caytlin Gehrke said. "If it wasn't for him liking the Packers so much, I wouldn't have even though about it."

They unexpectedly wed at the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) tent at the tailgate. The host had a DJ system and microphones.

The host invited the entire tailgate to join the ceremony over his loudspeaker.

"I walked up to an entire block of people," Caytlin Gehrke said. "Everybody screaming. I did not recognize a soul. I did not know how long we were walking for."

The couple bought tickets and celebrated their reception inside the game.

Caytlin Gehrke said a lot of people stopped to take pictures of and with the newlyweds.

"It was awesome. It was perfect. It was much more than we anticipated it being," Caytlin Gehrke said.

Even the Packers losing score didn't ruin the day.

"I was so focused on actually getting to marry her," Peter Gehrke said. "Now, Lambeau holds an even more special place in my heart."
