St. Francis fire leaves residential building uninhabitable

ST. FRANCIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The St. Francis Fire Department responded to a fire Monday, Jan. 27 at around 1:35 a.m. near the corner of Iowa and Tripoli in the City of St. Francis. Smoke was reported coming from the rear of a two-story residential building.

Officials from SFFD say they encountered smoke and fire throughout the basement upon arrival and that the fire was controlled within 20 minutes, with all occupants having escaped before firefighters arrived.

There were no reported injuries to civilians or first responders.

The building is considered uninhabitable, and the occupants have found temporary housing. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
