MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- North Point Water Tower Park on Milwaukee's east side turned into a resource center for families Wednesday, June 4.
It was for the second annual "Prevention in the Park" hosted by Ascension Columbia St. Mary's Hospital.
Their goal? To make sure families stay safe and healthy throughout the summer.
Families could stop at 30 different vendors and talk to healthcare professionals, first responders and community organizations.
One of the organizers told us they need to put on events like these to teach young people to stay safe.
"We want them to be safe and healthy. We want them to enjoy those fun experiences - water safety, you know, watching fireworks, but we want them to be safe doing it, so in order to get that out there in the community, we have to put on community events like this, otherwise people just don't know," said Rachel Zientek, trauma coordinator at Columbia St. Mary's.
There were also free food and goodies for everyone who stopped by.
