Staying humid with persistent rain chances this week
The humidity and storm chances first rolled in on Sunday with everyone feeling sweaty and dew points reaching tropical-level category in the low 70s. Sporadic showers and storms also showed up with some communities not seeing any rain, others getting a downpour dropping a tenth or two and some getting heavy rain over an inch. The humidity and storm chances won't really go anywhere over the next week. Dew points at least the next 72 hours are expected to stay in the lower 70s pushing close to miserable feeling at times.
Even though humidity levels and dew points are very high, temperatures won't be super hot. In fact the temps for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday have trended a bit lower in the upper 70s Monday and mid 80s Tuesday and Wednesday. But the 80s look to last most of this week.
A few showers have already rolled into southeast Wisconsin this Monday morning and the morning hours through the early afternoon look like the best time to see some rain. Here's a radar image that will update with time throughout the day:
Over the next three days, the rain chance looks best Monday with scattered showers and storms likely. Tuesday is a lower chance with isolated rain or storms possible, mainly in the afternoon and evening. Wednesday also has a decent chance for storms but is not likely yet.
Just as the showers and storms will be sporadic this week, so will the rain totals. Some communities will only get a few tenths of rain while others see over an inch. It all depends on who sees thunderstorms or multiple rounds of storms, and who gets just a few showers.
in addition to the chance for rain, a few of the storms Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday could be isolated strong. Most of southeast Wisconsin is under a Level 1 Marginal Risk for strong storms on Monday and we are currently under the same risk for Tuesday and Wednesday. Bottom line - with all the humidity the next week, any storms that form could be borderline strong with gusty wind as the main threat although a tornado cannot be ruled out.
