Steady flow of voters head to Waukesha polls
WAUKESHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) — Former President Trump, Vice President Harris and their surrogates have made multiple visits to Waukesha leading up to Election Day. This, as Waukesha and the other WOW counties are crucial in this election.
The WOW counties are three counties in southeast Wisconsin: Waukesha, Ozaukee, and Washington.
On Election Day, multiple Waukesha locations had a steady flow of voters throughout the day.
CBS 58 went to three polling locations throughout the day and at each voters said they had a seamless time getting registered and casting their ballots.
The chief inspector at Waukesha City Hall says due to the large number of early voters and absentee ballots, lines have not been as long as they expected.
One of the absentee tabulators at Schuetze Rec Center says in her 20 years of experience working elections, she has never seen this many absentee ballots.
She says over 50% of registered voters in Waukesha have voted absentee or in person absentee and that registration has been off the charts especially with young people and women.
Voter Jeff Byer says you get one chance to make a difference and make your voice heard.
“It’s the only way to change anything that you like or continue with what you do like is by voting. It’s important,” said Byer.
Waukesha is one of the biggest WOW counties and Trump has won about 60% of the vote in Waukesha in both 2016 and 2020.
As election night unfolds, one of the key questions is if Trump maintains that level of support or will some people flip for Harris.
