'Straight roads and freedom': 120th Harley Homecoming kicks off
GREENFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A celebration 120 years in the making is finally underway with Harley Davidson dealerships across Southeastern Wisconsin hosting charity rides, concerts and fun for the Harley Homecoming event.
"This is awesome. I couldn't ask for anything better," said Milwaukee's Shane Wandsnider. "This is my first anniversary that I've been a part of."
Wandsnider was one of hundreds of bikers to participate in Thursday's Law Enforcement Charity Ride hosted by House of Harley in Brookfield. The event raised money for the families of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.
"I love doing charity rides. I love doing benefit rides. It does mean a lot to me," Wandsnider said. "If I can help out our law enforcement, they're here to protect us, I'll definitely contribute any way I can."
It's not just hometown riders out representing the hometown brand. Friends Federico Rossi and Julio Lasi booked a flight from Northern Italy to New York City, rented bikes and rode to Wisconsin to help celebrate the motorcycle brand they love.
"It's the brand, it's the American feeling," said Rossi. "Straight roads and freedom. All the values that Harley share, we share as well."
Values Wandsnider says he's excited to celebrate so close to home.
"There's nothing better than the Harley," Wandsnider said. "You're in Milwaukee, you got to love a Harley."
House of Harley will be roaring throughout the weekend with riders, vendors and other enthusiasts taking over W. Layton Avenue, while concerts are held on the dealership's property.
