CALEDONIA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The 15-year-old who was arrested after his mother was found dead inside their Caledonia home has been charged with first degree intentional homicide according to online court filings.

According to a criminal complaint, the teen told investigators he came home from school on March 4 and "felt depression and an urge to kill his parents." He admitted to taking his brother's anxiety medication for about a month and on that day, he took approximately nine pills. The teen said, according to the complaint, the pills don't help his anxiety, but they make him high and he enjoys that.

The complaint says after eating dinner, the teen turned on the Menendez Brothers documentary on Netflix and then "developed a plan to kill his parents." The teen allegedly stated it came to him while he watched the "shotgun scene" of the documentary.

Shortly before 10 p.m., the teen told investigators he hid his sleeping medication, grabbed a steak knife, and hid a dumbbell up his sleeve, before asking his mother to help him look for his medication. With his mother's back turned to him, the teen told investigator he hit her twice in the head with the dumbbell, threw her to the ground, and eventually stabbed her three times in the chest and twice in the neck.

The criminal complaint says, the teen's mother asked him, "why?" and he replied, "pain."

The complaint says, before the attack on his mother, the teen searched the home for a hammer because he was going to kill his father when he came home from work but "couldn't find one large enough."

Following the attack on his mother, the teen reportedly sent a photo of his mother's body via Snapchat to a friend and told them to call the police.

When officers arrived, the teen exited the home, dropped the knife, and made statements for officers to kill him. The complaint says the teen stated, "she is dead," and "she is dead from what I did."

The teen was taken into custody.

At Racine County Court on Tuesday, prosecuting attorney Patricia Hanson suggested a $1 million bond for the teen, calling his actions an "extremely violent and planned offense."

Alex Hahn, the teen's attorney, tried to lower the bond to $50,000 after he acknowledged the teen's age, no previous criminal record, and prevalent mental health issues.

The court commissioner agreed with the state's bond suggestion with conditions that the teen must attend all court appearances on time. The teenager may also have contact with his father but will be monitored by the detention center.

Attorneys agreed to meet again on March 7.
